In a repeat of U14 2010 final which was won in extra time by the
Sarsfields girls, this was another epic encounter which ended with
only a score between the teams.

With the aid of a very strong wind in the first half Laurences led by
9 points, and although things werent looking great, the Sarsfields
girls were still playing good football against the elements.
After a positive half time talk the girls came out and continued to
play the ball around using width and hand passing to good effect. It
wasnt long before they hit the back of the net, to leave them within
6 points.
For a while with the benefit of the wind it was all one way
traffic, and with 11 minutes remaining Sarsfields went a point up. Two
quick points followed then another great goal after about 8 passes...
Then, as expected, this spurred on Laurences and the crowd was in for a
hectic last 5 minutes.
Referee Jody Callan who controlled the game
fairly, awarded Laurences a penalty, which was initially saved by
keeper Anna Lawless but was put into the net on the rebound.
Again not to be outdone Sarsfields went on the attack and scored
another peach of a goal, only for Laurences to score one of their own.
In a nail biting finish, sarsfields kept possession and continued to
attack downfield, and finally after 39 minutes on the clock, much to
the relief of the sars supporters, the curtain came down on a game
renowned for the quality of football, and the precision shooting from
both teams.
Some exceptional goal scoring, and if you havent noticed I have not
mentioned any girls in particular, as this was, as is usual with this
team, an all round brilliant team performance.
Congrats to their manager and mentors for their fitness, preparation
and belief in the girls.
Well done especially to all squad members for all the hard work
throughout the year at Minor, U16, U15, U14 and Féile.
