A strong second half comeback saw Sarsfields emerge convincing winners over Kilcock in their Junior championship played at the north kildare venue.
A slow start from the Sash saw them fall 4 points behind in the first half as they struggled to clear their lines against the wind.
Some strong play from David Hayes at full back kept Sarsfields in touch as they started to find their feet at the other end. With Gary Breslin showing well at corner forward along with Mick Dunne and Conor O'Mahony getting a grip around mid-field, they managed to get back to within two points at the break. The score at half-time was 0:07 to 0:05.
It was to be the proverbial games of two halves as Sarsfields took over completely after the break limiting their opponents to only two second half points. The introduction of Martin Murray at full forward was to prove to have a major impact on the game as he scored the first of his two goals within two minutes of the restart and caused mayhem with his physical presence anytime the ball was in the danger zone.
With Sarsfields taking over in all positions a plentiful supply was being served up the forwards and the scores began to flow. Center half back Ian Cooney got in on the scoring act with a fine long distance point as the half became something of a procession. Denis Lahart, who was unerring from frees throughout, kept the score board ticking over and when Murray scored his second major of the evening, it was curtains for Kilcock.
An impressive showing from all in the second half, and with Podge King and Shane Geragthy proving tidy and effective in their corner back berths fronting the reliable John Moran between the sticks, Sarsfields ran out comfortable winners on a final score of 3:13 to 0:09.
